Chief Data Officer, Foundation on Grief Death and Dying
The Foundation, amongst its many efforts, executes in-house research and data gathering initiatives as part of a full-spectrum, professionally managed data governance program.
The data acquisition initiatives allow The Foundation to produce proprietary quantitative and qualitative information relevant to advancing the understanding of grief, death and dying.
Once collected, data is normalized into advanced information models that support both business intelligence reporting and advanced statistical analytics.
By controlling and intentionally aligning all steps of the data governance process to key organizational goals and needs, The Foundation is able to sustainably identify and produce groundbreaking, first-of-kind qualitative and quantitative research.
“Our team’s approach to data collection and analysis is geared to be highly responsive and supportive of the Foundation’s larger organizational and informational goals.” Christopher Phelan, Chief Data Officer – Foundation on Grief Death and Dying
We endeavor to connect with individuals who have experienced the death of a loved one and hear their story. Their “data with a soul”.
By aggregating and identifying patterns and correlations within this “soul data”, we glean the interconnectedness of our human experience and reveal specifically where and how we are more similar than any of us previously realized.
The Foundation’s team of researchers and data analytics professionals gather those stories using evidence-based, qualitative and quantitative research methods, and then apply appropriate data science methods and techniques to produce statistically relevant and reliable analysis that informs our collective social understanding.
This groundbreaking analysis resulting from state of the art data science methods is intended to underlay life-changing education and communication around the subjects of Grief, Death, and Dying.
